Where is Loughton test centre?
The centre is in Loughton, Essex, close to Epping Forest and the A121, a short drive from the north end of the A406 North Circular and junction 5 of the M11. It serves a wide spread of the E4, IG and Essex border postcodes.
What are the test routes like?
Loughton routes mix quieter residential Essex streets with faster main roads and the roundabouts along the A121 and around Debden and Buckhurst Hill. Expect independent driving sections, a few hills and bends near the forest, and the usual manoeuvres on parked-car-lined side roads. The DVSA no longer publishes official routes, but our local instructors know the roads examiners favour.
What is the pass rate at Loughton?
Loughton is known for one of the higher car practical pass rates in the London and Essex area, comfortably above the national average of around 48.7 percent. That does not mean it is a soft test, the routes still demand good observation and confident roundabout work, but solid local preparation gives you a genuine edge. You can check the latest official figures on GOV.UK.
