Getting started with driving lessons
Provisional Driving Licence.
To begin with, you have to apply for a provisional driving licence either through online application or postal application using the D1 form (previously known as D750) that could easily be acquired through the post office. For online applications, please apply through the www.direct.gov.uk website and have the following ready as there is a time-out if it has been on standby for a while: A valid debit or credit card Your UK passport if you have one Your National Insurance number if you have one Details of previous addresses
It is possible to apply for your provisional licence three months before your 17th birthday so you can start your driving lessons as soon as you turn 17.
